1) Communication should be meaningful
We think that most communication on the Internet isn't built to be meaningful. We want to change that. Take Facebook, for instance. Facebook is great at finding and connecting with people you know. But it's not good at all at creating meaningful conversations with your very best friends. We think this can be better - both on the Internet, and within Facebook itself. Meaningful communication is about creating shared experiences, and Treehouse gives people a simple way to use photos, videos, and text as tools for creating this kind of meaning.
2) Sharing is everything
There's this big risk, in distance relationships, that both parties gradually drift apart. This is one reason why distance relationships are so hard - people lose track of each other's lives, and then, over time, they no longer become invested in their partner's worlds. We think this happens because people don't share enough with one other. We've built Treehouse around the idea that sharing really is everything. And while we can't guarantee an equal level of investment (from both parties in the relationship), Treehouse makes it easier to share memories from two different places, or lives, with one another.
3) Privacy matters
We believe you've got to have privacy to have great conversation. It's the same way some of the best conversations happen at night, over the privacy of the dinner table. Treehouse takes your privacy very, very seriously. Your text, photos and videos will not be visible to anyone outside your Treehouse, despite being in the open environment that is Facebook. And if you play your cards right, none of your friends would even need to know you're using Treehouse to stay in touch with your loved ones. We hope your conversations will be more valuable that way, and that your treehouse would be yours, just yours, and nobody else's.
